FAQs
| |
Below are answers to the most common questions frequently
asked of Freedom Insurance. If the answer to your query
is not listed below, please contact us; Monday to Friday
8.30am - 5.30pm.
| |
Q. Do I really need travel insurance
in the EU when I’ve got an E111 form?
| |
There are reciprocal arrangements on medical treatment
with other EU member states but the extent of cover
provided varies widely. Often a significant contribution
towards medical costs is required by the local health
service. In addition repatriation expenses would not
be covered by the E111.
You also need travel insurance to cover things like
your luggage and cancellation and curtailment.

Q. My partner is fit and well and
has insurance from the bank. It’s only me that
has a pre-existing condition. Why should we be on the
same policy?
| |
It is very unlikely your partner’s policy would
pay out for any extra expenses incurred if you should
become unwell with anything related to your pre-existing
condition either before (necessitating cancellation)
or during your trip.
| |
| |
Q. Is there a limit to how long I can be away?
| |
In some circumstances single trips of up to eighteen
months can be covered. Annual policies allow you up
to 31 days per single trip, however in certain situations
this can be extended to 93 days.
| |
| |
Q. What if my Doctor has advised me not to travel?
| |
If your Doctor has advised you not to travel we will
not be able to insure you. You must have your Doctor’s
approval to travel, as your policy will be void if you
travel against medical advice.
| |
| |
Q. What do I do if I have a medical problem when I am away?
| |
You should contact the emergency assistance company
whose details can be found in your policy booklet.
